Leaders in Training (LIT)
DISCIPLESHIP COMMUNITY SERVICE
LITs say it best!

A YEAR LONG JOURNEY
LITs volunteer and experience the joys of Camp for 4 weeks over the summer (Sunday – Friday). During this time they learn how to connect with God through prayer and Bible reading. LITs gain skills and learn how to serve others through food service, housekeeping, groundskeeping, and more!
One thing that makes our program unique is that it is not only a summer commitment. Our goal is to encourage LITs in Christ throughout the year – empowering them to be a light for Christ in their homes and communities!
As a part of the program, LITs are invited to:
– serve at and participate in Teen Camp
– attend 4 LIT Retreats
– serve at Youth Retreats
– engage in regular check-ins hosted by camp staff, through our Camp LIT group chat

- have a relationship with Jesus
- have a desire to serve
- be a self-motivated individual

Summer Scheduling
SESSIONS: The LIT program is split into two sessions: Session A (June 8 – July 4, 2025) and Session B (July 6 – August 1, 2025). If spots are available, alumni LITs have priority in choosing to attend both sessions.
MANDATORY TRAINING WEEKEND: All LITs are required to attend our mandatory training weekend (May 23-25, 2025).
ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE: Each week, LITs report to Camp at 4:30 PM EST on Sunday and leave Camp at 4:30 PM EST on Friday. All LITs must leave camp each weekend.
OUT-OF-STATE: If the LIT is from out of state, Camp Beechpoint may assist with finding them a host family to stay with on weekends. Note: Camp will be providing transportation to/from the Chicagolands for a limited number of weeks in the summer.
TEEN CAMP: LITs in session A will automatically attend Teen Camp as LITs. They will serve as well as participate in camp activities. LITs in Session B are invited to participate in Teen Camp.

LIT Majors
Similar to a job, LITs complete an application and interview. They undergo mandatory training and request days off in advance.
For 4 weeks over the summer, LITs are assigned to a major to develop and master skills in a specific area of Camp.
All LITs begin in the Explore Major. 16+ year olds may be invited to participate in speciality majors.
If an LIT has interest in a specific major, they should bring it up during the interview process.
Explore Major
Explore majors grow in leadership and service. Responsibilities include a balance of:
- kitchen duties (set up, clean up & dishes)
- cleaning duties (sweeping, windows, & wiping surfaces)
- grounds care (raking & sweeping).
Explore majors will also shadow various other majors in camp and learn new skills. Compared with Speciality majors, Explore majors participate in increased fun and bonding experiences!
Programming Major
Programming majors assist with activities, primarily zipline, and programming. This major is for LITs who are comfortable with heights and have had experience with assisting in zipline at Beechpoint.
Cooking Major
Cooking majors assist with food service and meal preparation throughout the day. They will be given specific kitchen responsibilities and will have the opportunity to develop their cooking and food prep skills. This major is for LITs who are interested in cooking and able to follow instructions well.
Equestrian Major
Equestrian LITs spend most of their day at the barn caring for horses, guiding campers, and assisting with the Beechpoint horse program under the supervision of the wranglers. This major is for LITs who have had prior horse experience.
Grounds Major
LITs in this major will assist the maintenance and grounds team with outdoor projects throughout camp. When not assigned to a project, they participate in activities alongside Explore LITs. This major is for LITs who enjoy doing outdoor activities and yard work. This major is open to 1-2 LITs.
